Abstract


ABSTRAK

Besarnya pengaruh radikal bebas terhadap stress oksidatif penyebab penuaan dini menjadi perhatian banyak orang saat ini. Tingginya permintaan produk kosmetik berbahan dasar antioksidan dipasaran merupakan salah satu gambaran bahwa masyarakat mulai menyadari bahaya radikal bebas terhadap tubuh. Sebagian besar produk kosmetik dipasaran mengandung antioksidan sintetik yang dapat berbahaya bagi tubuh jika terakumulasi dalam waktu yang lama. Tujuan ulasan artikel ini adalah untuk memberikan informasi mengenai aktivitas antioksidan alami tumbuhan cantigi ungu sebagai bahan dasar pembuatan kosmetik. Metode yang digunakan untuk menguji aktivitas antioksidan adalah DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrihidrazil) dan ABTS ((2,2-Azinobis 3-ethyl benzothiazoline 6-sulfonic acid). Hasil yang didapatkan berupa aktivitas antioksidan cantigi ungu yang dilihat berdasarkan nilai IC50. Penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai pengaruh antioksidan terhadap penghambatan penuaan dini perlu dilakukan.

ABSTRACT

The effect of free radical on oxidative stress causes premature aging get people’s attention nowadays. Highly request cosmetic products based on antioxidant in the market is the reason that people began to realize the danger of free radical against human body. Most cosmetic products contain synthetic antioxidants that can be harmful to the body if accumulated in a long time. The purpose of this article’s review is to provide information about natural antioxidant from cantigi ungu as the basic ingredient of cosmetic. The methods used are DPPH and ABTS. The result of antioxidant activity is seen based on IC50 value. Advanced research about the effect of antioxidant on the inhibition premature aging is needed.
