REVIEW MEKANISME, KARAKTERISASI DAN APLIKASI SODIUM STARCH GLYCOLATE (SSG) DALAM BIDANG FARMASETIK

Abstract


Rute pemberian obat secara oral merupakan rute pemberian yang paling banyak disukai karena kemudahan penggunaannya, namun rute pemberian secara oral memiliki kekurangan yaitu, lamanya efek terapi yang timbul akibat proses disintegrasi sediaan obat yang lambat. Bahan penghancur merupakan salah satu eksipien obat yang bertanggung jawab dalam disintegrasi sediaan. salah satu contoh bahan pengancur adalah sodium starch glycolate (SSG). SSG merupakan superdisintegran yang berbahan dasar pati.  SSG dapat diisolasi dari berbagai macam pati, namun pati kentang menunjukkan sifat disintegrasi yang paling baik. Mekanisme disintegrasi SSG adalah dengan menyerap air sehingga menyebabkan sediaan menggembung dan akhirnya pecah. Karakterisasi SSG dapat ditentukan dengan uji distribusi partikel, uji kerapatan curah dan mampat, uji rasio haussner dan Carr’s index, uji luas permukaan; volume; dan ukuran pori-pori, dan swelling index. Aplikasi SSG dalam bidang farmasetik dapat digunakan pada formulasi sediaan fast disintegrating tablet.
