REVIEW: AKITIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK TUMBUHAN Melastomataceae TERHADAP BAKTERI Escherichia coli DAN Staphylococcus aureus

Abstract


Abstrak

Diare merupakan salah satu penyakit infeksi yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Escherichia coli  dan  Staphylococcus aureus  yang masih menjadi masalah utama dalam kesehatan masyarakat serta berpotensi mengakibatkan kematian. Sebagian besar bakteri ini telah mengalami resisten terhadap antibiotik. Maka, diperlukan suatu alternatif yang dapat mengatasi masalah tersebut dengan melakukan tinjauan mengenai aktivitas antibakteri pada tumbuhan dari keluarga melastomataceae yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri E.coli dan S. aureus. Tumbuhan dari keluarga melastomataceae yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri diantaranya Melastoma malabathricum L, Melastoma candidum, Dissotis thollonii Cogn dan Dissotis rotundifolia T dengan senyawa kimia yang berperan yaitu triterpenoid (asam asiatik, asam ursolat), flavonoid (kuersetin, kaemferol, asam allegic, tokoferol), glikosida, saponin, tanin, dan alkaloid.
