PEMBERDAYAAN MASYARAKAT DALAM PENGELOLAAN TANAMAN PAKAN LEBAH TRIGONA DI DUSUN BANGKO KABUPATEN HALMAHERA BARAT

Abstrak


West Halmahera Regency holds significant potential for the development of its agricultural and livestock sectors, including the cultivation of forage plants for Trigona bees. Bangko Hamlet, located within this region, exhibits rich biodiversity that supports the domestication of Trigona spp., a genus of stingless bees renowned for producing high-quality honey. This community engagement program aimed to (1) enhance the availability of forage resources for Trigona bees through the management of flowering plants and (2) empower local partners to actively participate in sustainable land management practices. The program was implemented using the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach, which emphasizes community involvement throughout all stages of the program. The introduction of nine flowering plant species in Bangko Hamlet successfully increased the sustainable supply of nectar and pollen for the colonies, leading to an approximate 50% increase in average honey production per colony. Furthermore, the establishment of two local management groups contributed to the development of small-scale enterprises centered on Trigona honey production. A locally branded product, "Madu TrigonaQu," has been introduced to the market, generating direct economic benefits and fostering community-based sustainable enterprise development in Bangko Hamlet.


Kabupaten Halmahera Barat memiliki potensi besar dalam pengembangan sektor pertanian dan peternakan, termasuk pengelolaan tanaman pakan lebah Trigona. Dusun Bangko, yang terletak di daerah ini, memiliki keanekaragaman hayati yang mendukung budidaya lebah Trigona, jenis lebah tanpa sengat yang menghasilkan madu berkualitas tinggi. Tujuan dilaksanakannya kegiatan PKM ini adalah untuk (1) meningkatkan ketersediaan sumber pakan lebah trigona melalui pengelolaan tanaman berbunga, dan (2) memberdayakan mitra untuk berpartisipasi aktif dalam pengelolaan lahan secara berkelanjutan. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini menggunakan metode Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) yaitu pendekatan yang menekankan pada keterlibatan masyarakat dalam keseluruhan kegiatan. Sembilan tanaman berbunga yang ditanam di Dusun Bangko dapat meningkatkan ketersediaan nektar dan serbuk sari yang berkelanjutan bagi koloni lebah. Produksi madu rata-rata per koloni meningkat sekitar 50%. Program pembinaan yang diterapkan melalui pembentukan dua kelompok pengelola dapat mengembangkan usaha kecil berbasis madu trigona. Produk madu kemasan sederhana dengan label “Madu TrigonaQu” telah dipasarkan di tingkat lokal, memberikan nilai tambah ekonomi langsung bagi masyarakat Dusun Bangko.
