Pelatihan Pemanfaatan Limbah Organik untuk Menunjang Produksi Ternak di Kalurahan Argomulyo Sedayu Bantul

Abstract

Waste has the potential for animal feed. Training on the processing of organic waste into animal feed in Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul has been carried out. The purpose of the activity is to provide knowledge and skills in organic waste treatment using maggot bioconversion or Black Soldier Fly (BSF) to produce protein-rich animal feed. This activity was held in May 2026 at the Teaching Farm of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta and was attended by 15 participants. The method of implementation is by providing counseling and training. The implementation stage began with the presentation of material on the introduction of organic waste to the technique of Maggot cultivation as a bioconversion agent and utilization for animal feed, followed by discussion and ended with an evaluation of the training results. The results of the training activities provided an increase in knowledge in the processing of organic waste and the use of maggot as animal feed which was originally 33,33% to 100%. Participants can understand how to sort organic waste, cultivate maggot and use it as animal feed. It is hoped that with this education, participants can apply it in their respective environments so that organic waste can be used for animal feed. The follow-up to the activity is to provide assistance with the academic community of Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta.
