Abstract

Community-based organic waste management can be developed through Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot cultivation while producing biomass with potential use as an alternative fish feed ingredient. This program aimed to improve community knowledge and skills in organic waste management through seminars and hands-on practice in constructing maggot cultivation units. The activity was conducted in Bojongsoang Village, Bandung Regency, involving 20 seminar participants and 13 workshop participants. Evaluation employed a one-group pre-test–post-test design, skill observation, a Likert-scale questionnaire, and four-week installation monitoring. Knowledge scores increased from 10.20±3.61 to 19.15±2.87 and differed significantly based on the Wilcoxon signed-rank test (p<0.001). Workshop participants achieved a mean skill score of 73.08%, while the overall participant response reached 3.89 on a five-point scale.. These findings indicate that combining education with hands-on practice can strengthen community capacity for organic waste management and support maggot biomass production as an alternative fish feed ingredient.

Abstrak

Pengelolaan sampah organik berbasis masyarakat dapat dikembangkan melalui budidaya maggot Black Soldier Fly (BSF) sekaligus menghasilkan biomassa yang berpotensi digunakan sebagai bahan pakan ikan alternatif. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam pengelolaan sampah organik melalui seminar dan praktik pembuatan instalasi maggot. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di Desa Bojongsoang, Kabupaten Bandung, dan melibatkan 20 peserta seminar serta 13 peserta workshop. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan desain satu kelompok pre-test–post-test, observasi keterampilan, kuesioner skala Likert, dan monitoring instalasi selama empat minggu. Skor pengetahuan meningkat dari 10,20±3,61 menjadi 19,15±2,87 dan berbeda signifikan berdasarkan uji Wilcoxon (p<0,001). Capaian keterampilan peserta workshop mencapai 73,08%, sedangkan respons peserta memperoleh rerata 3,89 dari skala lima. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi edukasi dan praktik langsung berpotensi meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat dalam mengelola sampah organik dan menghasilkan biomassa maggot sebagai bahan pakan ikan alternatif.
