SEKOLAH INTERAKTIF GENDER DAN LIFE SKILLS DALAM PENINGKATAN KAPASITAS REMAJA UNTUK PENCEGAHAN KEKERASAN BERBASIS GENDER
Abstrak
Gender-based violence (GBV) remains a significant public health issue, including in Banyumas Regency, where cases of violence against women and children continue to increase. Limited gender literacy and inadequate life skills among adolescents make them both a vulnerable group and a strategic target for GBV prevention efforts. This community service program aimed to strengthen adolescents' capacity as agents of gender-based violence prevention through the implementation of an Interactive Gender School integrated with Life Skills Training for members of the Karang Taruna in Teluk Village. The program was implemented over four months through gender education, assertive communication training, conflict resolution, digital literacy education, and the establishment of a youth forum as a platform for advocacy and collective action. Program effectiveness was evaluated using a one-group pretest–posttest approach involving 44 adolescents. Data were collected before and after the intervention using standardized instruments and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test due to the non-normal distribution of the data. The evaluation demonstrated significant improvements in gender literacy (Z = –4.668; p < 0.001) and life skills (Z = –2.819; p = 0.005). Participants also showed a better ability to recognize signs of violence, practice assertive communication, and understand GBV reporting mechanisms. These findings indicate that integrating an Interactive Gender School with Life Skills Training is an effective community empowerment approach for strengthening adolescents' capacity to prevent gender-based violence and has strong potential for replication in other communities.
Kekerasan berbasis gender (KBG) masih menjadi permasalahan kesehatan masyarakat yang serius, termasuk di Kabupaten Banyumas yang terus menunjukkan peningkatan kasus kekerasan terhadap perempuan dan anak. Rendahnya literasi gender serta keterampilan hidup (life skills) pada remaja menjadikan mereka kelompok yang rentan sekaligus strategis dalam upaya pencegahan KBG. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat kapasitas remaja sebagai agen pencegahan kekerasan berbasis gender melalui pelaksanaan Sekolah Interaktif Gender yang terintegrasi dengan pelatihan Life Skills bagi anggota Karang Taruna Desa Teluk. Program dilaksanakan selama empat bulan melalui kegiatan edukasi gender, pelatihan komunikasi asertif, penyelesaian konflik, literasi digital, serta pembentukan forum remaja sebagai wadah advokasi dan aksi kolektif. Efektivitas program dievaluasi menggunakan pendekatan one-group pretest–posttest yang melibatkan 44 remaja. Data dikumpulkan sebelum dan sesudah intervensi menggunakan instrumen terstandar, kemudian dianalisis dengan uji Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test karena data tidak berdistribusi normal. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada literasi gender (Z = –4,668; p < 0,001) dan life skills (Z = –2,819; p = 0,005). Selain itu, peserta menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan dalam mengenali tanda-tanda kekerasan, menerapkan komunikasi asertif, serta memahami mekanisme pelaporan kasus kekerasan berbasis gender. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa integrasi Sekolah Interaktif Gender dan pelatihan Life Skills merupakan pendekatan pemberdayaan masyarakat yang efektif dalam meningkatkan kapasitas remaja untuk mencegah kekerasan berbasis gender serta berpotensi direplikasi pada komunitas lain.
