Author Guidelines

Responsive: Jurnal Pemikiran Dan Penelitian Administrasi, Sosial, Humaniora Dan Kebijakan Publik
e-ISSN 2654-6035 · Published by Universitas Padjadjaran · https://journals.unpad.ac.id/responsive

1. Scope and publication schedule

Responsive publishes original research articles and systematic literature reviews in administration, social sciences, economics, the humanities, and public policy. Four issues appear each year, in April, August, October, and December.

2. Language

Manuscripts may be submitted in Indonesian or English. Whichever language is used, the title, abstract, and keywords must be supplied in both Indonesian and English, and all references must use the Latin alphabet.

3. Two files are required

Because the journal operates double-blind peer review, every submission consists of two separate files.

Title page. A separate file containing the title in both languages, the names of all authors without academic titles, their affiliations, the corresponding author's email address, an ORCID iD for each author, and the declarations listed in section 8. This file is uploaded as a supplementary file and is not sent to reviewers.

Anonymous manuscript. The main file, containing no information that identifies the authors. Remove names, affiliations, and email addresses from the text and from the document properties. Write self-citations in the third person rather than as "in our earlier study". Withhold acknowledgements and funding statements until acceptance. Where the research site could identify the authors, describe it generically until acceptance.

Enter all author details in the submission metadata, not in the manuscript file.

4. Manuscript requirements

Manuscripts must be original, previously unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.

Prepare the manuscript using the journal template and submit it in Microsoft Word format. Use A4 paper with margins of 25 mm left, 20 mm right, 30 mm top, and 20 mm bottom. The manuscript should run to between 5,000 and 7,000 words, including tables, figures, and references. Paragraphs are indented 10 mm with no blank line between them, and foreign-language terms appear in italics.

Typography follows the journal template, which is the authoritative source for fonts, sizes, and line spacing.

5. Structure

The anonymous manuscript contains, in order: title in both languages; abstract and keywords in both languages; Introduction; Literature Review; Research Method; Results and Discussion; Conclusion; References.

Section headings are not numbered. They are set in bold title case, left-aligned, without underlining. Second-level headings are set in bold sentence case, left-aligned.

6. Title, abstract, keywords

The title is centred at the top of the first page, no more than twelve words, informative, and free of uncommon abbreviations. The main idea comes first, followed by its qualification.

The abstract is a single paragraph of no more than 200 words stating the problem, objective, method, results, and conclusion. It contains no references, abbreviations, footnotes, formulae, or questions, and is not assembled from sentences copied out of the body of the manuscript.

Provide three to five keywords in each language, separated by semicolons and arranged alphabetically.

7. Tables and figures

Tables and figures are placed immediately after the text that refers to them and are centred; larger items may occupy the full width of the page. Both are numbered in Arabic numerals. Table captions appear above the table with the source below it; figure captions and sources appear below the figure. Tables carry no vertical rules, and horizontal rules are used only to mark essential divisions. All artwork must reproduce legibly in black and white. Use no more than six tables and figures in total.

Results are analysed data, not raw data. The discussion sets those results against the concepts and theories established in the literature review.

8. Required declarations

The following appear on the title page at submission and are inserted into the manuscript after the Conclusion once the manuscript is accepted. Submissions lacking them are returned before review.

Author contributions. State each author's contribution using the CRediT taxonomy. Every listed author must have contributed substantively, approved the final version, and agreed to be accountable for the work.

Conflict of interest. Disclose any financial or non-financial relationship that could be perceived to influence the work, or state explicitly that none exists.

Funding. Identify all funding sources with grant numbers and describe the funder's role, or state that the research received no external funding.

Data availability. State where and under what conditions the supporting data can be accessed, or explain why they cannot be shared.

Ethical approval. For research involving human participants, give the name of the research ethics committee and its approval number, confirm that informed consent was obtained, and confirm that no participant can be identified from the manuscript.

Use of generative artificial intelligence. Disclose any use of generative artificial intelligence in preparing the manuscript, naming the tool, its version, and the scope of use. Use limited to grammar and readability need not be disclosed. Artificial intelligence cannot be listed as an author, and the authors remain fully responsible for all content.

9. Citations and references

References follow APA 7th edition and should be managed using Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.

At least 80 per cent of references must be primary sources, meaning peer-reviewed journal articles and research reports, published within the last ten years. Include a DOI for every reference that has one; give a URL only for sources without a DOI, such as government documents or institutional reports, together with the date of access.

Check every reference against the original source, including author names, volume, issue, year, and DOI. Authors are responsible for confirming that all references exist and can be verified. Every publication cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and every entry in the reference list must be cited in the text.

10. Submission

Submit through Open Journal Systems at https://journals.unpad.ac.id/responsive. Register as an author, then select New Submission and complete the five steps: Start, Upload Submission, Enter Metadata, Upload Supplementary Files, and Confirmation.

At Start, select the Articles section and confirm each item on the checklist. At Upload Submission, upload the anonymous manuscript. At Enter Metadata, enter all authors with their affiliations and ORCID iDs, together with the title, abstract, and indexing keywords in both languages. At Upload Supplementary Files, upload the title page and the signed Publication Ethics Statement, endorsed by all authors. At Confirmation, review the entries and select Finish Submission.

Manuscripts that do not conform to these guidelines are returned to the author before review. The journal screens all submissions for similarity before peer review; the acceptable similarity index is 20 per cent, excluding the reference list and properly attributed quotations.

Petunjuk Untuk Penulis

Penulis yang ingin memasukkan naskah harus memperhatikan poin-poin di bawah ini. Jika naskah tidak sesuai dengan persyaratan yang telah dicantumkan, ada kemungkinan naskah tersebut akan dikembalikan.

  1. The submission has not been previously published and is not before another journal for consideration, or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor.

A Publication Ethics Statement, signed by all authors, is attached as a supplementary file. Submissions without this document will not be processed.

  2. The manuscript file has been prepared using the journal template and is submitted in Microsoft Word format, either .doc or .docx.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The manuscript has been prepared using the journal template and follows all formatting and style requirements set out in the Author Guidelines.
  5. Please verify each reference against the original source, including author names, volume, issue, and year. Reference managers such as Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero are recommended for this purpose. Every publication cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and every entry in the reference list must be cited in the text.
  6. The manuscript has been anonymised for double-blind review. Author names, affiliations, and email addresses have been removed from the manuscript file and from the document properties; self-citations are written in the third person; and acknowledgements and funding statements that would reveal author identity are withheld until acceptance. All author details are entered in the submission metadata rather than in the manuscript file.
  7. Every submission must be accompanied by a similarity report showing an index of no more than 20 per cent, excluding the reference list and properly attributed direct quotations.

Any use of generative artificial intelligence in preparing the manuscript must be disclosed, naming the tool, its version, and the scope of use.
